We seek to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and energetic Teacher of English to join our hardworking and successful department at Manor CE Academy. The ideal candidate will be focused on high quality teaching in English at key Stage 3 and 4, and have a passion for working with young people.  This post would suitable for newly qualified or more experienced teachers.

The English Department

We are a dedicated, creative and highly successful team of seven subject specialists. The department occupies six full sized classrooms plus seminar rooms for smaller groups, all equipped with PCs and projectors.  The department has its own workroom, which becomes a place for the team to congregate during breaks, fostering a supportive and friendly atmosphere.   

In Key Stage 3, all students follow a varied English curriculum, balancing different skills, genres and eras.  Year 9 is our GCSE preparation year, in which skills for the Key Stage 4 curriculum are introduced, then all students study both AQA English Language and AQA English Literature GCSE courses in Years 10 and 11.  We make full and creative use of students’ iPads to enhance their learning.  As a team we are looking to continually deepen our understanding of the new GCSEs and to improve our delivery of content through sharing best practice.

Teaching Assistants (4)

25 hours per week, term-time only

Grade 4 (£9,600 - £10,459)

Temporary for one year in the first instance

We are looking to appoint four Teaching Assistants from September 2017 – Monday to Friday, term-time only on 25 hours per week.  These posts are temporary for one year in the first instance.

The Teaching Assistants will work under the direction of the teacher to undertake work, care and support programmes, to enable access to learning for students and to assist the teacher in the management of students.  Previous experience of working with children with learning and behavioural difficulties is desirable.

Administrative Assistant

Grade 3 (£8,388 - £8,613)

Monday – Wednesday – 22.5 hours

Term-time only

We are looking to appoint an Administrative Assistant as soon as possible to provide an efficient and effective support service within the main office. The successful candidate will have a bright, pleasant and outgoing personality who can represent the academy, and possess good IT and customer service skills.

The appointed person will work within a team environment in a busy, but friendly office and undertake a variety of clerical and administrative work as well as reception duties on the student and visitor desk.

The individual will be highly organised and have a proactive approach and in addition it is essential to main confidentiality and exercise tact at all times.

The hours of work will be Monday – Wednesday (08:30 – 16:30) term time only.

Student Support Officer

Monday – Friday, Full-time

Salary – Grade 5   (£15,516 - £17,059)

Term-time only

We are looking to appoint a Student Support Worker, from September 2017.  This is a new post where the successful candidate will work alongside colleagues in the Welfare team including the Behaviour Support Manager and Educational Support Worker.

The post holder will support students with behavioural issues or other barriers affecting their learning.

Applicants will need to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to be the key point of contact between parents, students and the Welfare team, whilst at the same time promote and maintain safety, privacy and dignity of all young people in accordance with Safeguarding guidance.
